Multi-Cooker Troubleshooting
Here are some common problems you might come across with your Multi-Cooker. If these don’t help, try getting in touch with the manufacturer directly.
Why am I getting a “BURN” message on the indicator panel?
There are a couple of reasons this may occur:
- There may not be enough liquid in the pot. The rule of thumb is at least 1 cup of liquid* but that will increase if you’re cooking using beans and legumes (depending on their rate of absorption). If this happens turn off the cooker and carefully vent the steam. Remove the lid, check the recipe and if necessary add more liquid. You will need to replace the lid and reset the cooker to begin cooking again.
- Your Multi-Cooker may already be hot from using the sauté function and if the recipe doesn’t call for a lot of liquid it may register the burn notice. If you’ve already been using the sauté function before setting the timer, make sure to scrape any bits off the bottom and ensure there is liquid all over the bottom of the insert.
Why does it take a long time to come up to pressure?
The more liquid in the pot, the longer it will take to come up to pressure. Some soup recipes, for example, will take 15 minutes to reach pressure.
It doesn’t come up to pressure at all. What’s happening?
Possible reasons:
- The rubber sealing ring isn’t in place correctly, or is damaged. Remove the lid carefully and check that the seal is intact and in place correctly. If it is damaged, split or loose you will need to replace it. Replacements are readily available online.
- The float valve is stuck. Check that it is clean and isn't clogged with food.
Steam keeps leaking out. Is something wrong?

What do I do if the lid smells?
The sealing ring absorbs intense flavors while the food is cooking under pressure and there is really little you can do to avoid this. If you use your Multi-Cooker for desserts then we recommend keeping a spare sealing ring on hand to switch out specifically for that purpose. This will help avoid any savory aromas affecting sweet recipes.
